Cayetano: Hosting ng Pilipinas sa SEA Games, ‘biggest, best’

Nanindigan si Philippine SEA Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC) chairman Alan Peter Cayetano na magiging pinakamaganda at pinakamatagumpay ang hosting ng Pilipinas para sa Southeast Asian (SEA) games.

Ang pahayag ng opisyal ay sa gitna ng deadlock sa 2019 national budget at mas maliit na pondong inilaan para sa naturang regional games.

Aminado si Cayetano na ang budget limitation ay may epekto sa preparasyon ngunit hindi umano nito mapipigilan ang kagutushan ng gobyerno na ibigay ang pinakamagandang SEA Games sa kasaysayan.

“We know that the budget limitation is a major factor.  But our strong will to mount the best SEA Games in history for the sake of our athletes and the Filipino people is bigger than any other problem confronting us today,” ani Cayetano.

Mula sa unang budget na P7 bilyon ay pagkakasyahin ng PHISGOC ang P5 bilyong pondo na inaprubahan ng bicameral committee.

Samantala, sinabi ni Cayetano na ‘in full swing’ ang konstruksyon ng sports facilities at ang lahat ng preparasyon para sa SEA games.

Nagbigay din ng pahayag si Philippine Olympic Committee president Ricky Vargas na matutuloy ang ikaapat na hosting ng bansa sa SEA Games.

Tinawag nitong ‘fake news’ ang kumakalat na balitang papalit ang Indonesia na maging host sakaling mabigo ang Pilipinas.
