MWSS: Manila Water pwedeng pagmultahin dahil sa water shortage
Maaaring magmulta ang Manila Water sa Hunyo o Hulyo dahil sa perwisyo sa naging ng problema sa supply ng tubig.
Sa pagdinig sa Senado araw ng Martes, sinabi ni Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) chief regulator Patrick Ty, kalimitang tinatalakay ang multa dahil sa service interruption sa panahon ng rate adjustment kada 5 taon.
Ang multa anya ay pwedeng sa pamamagitan ng rebate sa mga customer ng Manila Water.
Pero sinabi ni Ty na dahil “unprecedented” ang naging problema sa tubig at walang batas na nagbabawal sa gobyerno na pagmultahin ang Manila Water ng mas maaga kaysa sa rebasing sa 2022, pinag-aaralan na nila ito ngayon.
Dagdag ni Ty, sinusuri na nila ang halaga ng multa na ipapapataw sa Manila Water.
“We do not need to wait because of this unprecedented situation. We are studying it right now, we are also actually studying the amount of the penalty that will be imposed, which can be rebated. We are exploring the option of imposing it, if there is any, around June or July,” pahayag ni Ty sa Senate hearing.
Sa ngayon ay prayoridad muna ng MWSS na ayusin ang supply ng tubig at sa susunod na buwan ay inaasahan na anya ang pagbaba ng singil ng Manila Water sa kanilang consumers dahil sa service interruption.
