‘Mismanagement’ ng Manila Water sinisi ng Palasyo sa water shortage

Para sa Malakanyang, wala naman talagang krisis sa tubig kundi ang “mismanagement” ng Manila Water ang naging dahilan ng kakulangan ng supply sa ilang bahagi ng Metro Manila.

Ayon kay Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo, naibalik ng Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) ang supply ng tubig sa 90 percent ng Manila Water customers matapos iutos ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang paglalabas ng tubig mula sa Angat Dam.

“It’s pure inefficiency, mismanagement on the part of Manila Water. It means there was really no [water] crisis. There was only mismanagement,” ani Panelo.

Mahigit isang linggong nawalan ng tubig ang mga costumer ng Manila Water, dahilan kaya nagsagawa ng imbestigasyon ang Kamara.

Sa pagdinig sa Kamara ay humingi ng paumanhin si Ferdinand dela Cruz, chief executive officer (CEO) ng Manila Water.

Samantala, sinabi ni Panelo na walang dahilan para bumuo ng Department of Water taliwas sa panukala ng MWSS.

“We don’t need that. I don’t think we need that. They created their own problem, and they provided the solution. It’s purely inefficiency, mismanagement,” Dagdag ni Panelo.
