Consumers pwedeng magsampa ng kaso vs Manila Water

Maaaring magsampa ng kaso ang mga residente at negosyong naapektuhan ng water interruptions ng Manila Water ayon kay Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra.

Ayon sa kalihim, kung mapatutunayang may kapabayaan ang Manila Water o ang krisis ay hindi sanhi ng ‘natural causes of force majeure’, pwedeng magsampa ng civil cases ang consumers.

Ang force majeure ay depensa sa mga civil cases kung saan exempted ang tao o grupo na magbayad ng danyos kung mapatutunayan na walang nangyaring kapabayaan.

Paliwanag ni Guevarra, dapat ay may ebidensya na nagpabaya ang Manila Water bago makapaghain ng civil case.

Ang pahayag ng DOJ ay kasunod ng sinabi ni Bayan Muna chairman at senatorial candidate Neri Colmenares na ikinokonsidera nilang maghain ng class suit laban sa Manila Water.

Naniniwala si Colmenares na nagpabaya ang Manila Water kaya’t nararanasan ang krisis sa tubig.

Ayon naman sa DOJ, hindi angkop ang class suit sa kaso ng Manila Water.
