Rep. Veloso sa pagkasama sa narco list: ‘politically motivated’

Itinanggi ni Leyte 3rd district Rep. Vicente “Ching” Veloso na sangkot siya sa illegal drug trade matapos siyang pangalanan ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte bilang isa sa “narco politicians” sa bansa.

Ayon sa reelectionist na si Veloso, ang pagkasama niya sa “narco list” ay politically motivated o may halong pulitika.

“Kalokohan ‘yan, pulitika ‘yan… Everytime na may elections kami rito ang tunay na mga drug lords dito… inilalabas, nili-link ako,” ani Veloso.

Si Veloso ay isinangkot bilang protektor ng umanoy drug lord na si Kerwin Espinosa base sa affidavit ng napatay na si Albuera Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr. Noong 2016, bagay na itinanggi rin ng kongresista.

Nangako si Veloso na magbibitiw siya kapag napatunayan na sangkot siya sa kalakalan ng droga.

Hinamon pa nito si Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Oscar Albayalde at Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director General Aaron Aquinon na mag-resign kapag bigo silang mapatunayan na dawit siya sa droga.

“I challenge Albayalde, I challenge Aquino, and whoever was responsible for putting me in that list. If I am involved, magre-resign ako. On the other hand, if they cannot prove why they put me in that list dapat mag-resign din sila (they should also resign),” dagdag nito.

Welcome naman kay Veloso ang pagsasampa ng reklamo ng Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) sa Ombudsman laban sa 46 “narco politicians” dahil may pagkakataon na siyang kwestyunin ang pagkasama niya sa listahan.

Plano rin ng mambabatas na kasuhan ang Ombudsman “for undue injury.”
