Comelec handa sakaling magkaroong ng power outages sa May 13 elections

Mayroong hinandang contingency measures ang Commission on Elections (Comelec) sakaling mayroong power interruptions na maganap sa May 13 elections dahil sa El Niño.

Ayon kay Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez, mayroong generator sets na ilalagay sa mga lugar na may mataas na tyansang mawalan ng kuryente.

Mayroon ding additional batteries para sa mga vote counting machines (VCMs).

Giit ni Jimenez, ang fully charged na battery ng bawat VCM ay kayang tumagal ng 16 na oras mas matagal sa oras ng botohan na 12 oras lamang o mula alas-6:00 ng umaga hanggang alas-6:00 ng gabi.

Nagbigay na rin ang Comelec sa mga electric companies ng listahan ng critical phases ng proseso ng eleksyon na hindi dapat mawalan ng kuryente.

Kabilang sa listahan ay ang bisperas ng Election Day kung saan isinasagawa ang final testing at pagseselyo sa VCMs, araw ng eleksyon at canvassing.

Sinabi ni Jimenez na tiniyak na ng mga kumpanya na ipaprayoridad ang election-related activities
