Panelo: Utang ng Pilipinas sa China hinimay ng economic team ng pangulo

Pinakakalma ng Malacañang si Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad matapos mabahala sa sunod sunod na pag-utang ng Pilipinas sa China.

Ayon kay Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo, tinatanggap ng palasyo ang mga payo ni Mahathir pero pagtitiyak ng tagapagsalita, pinag-aaralan ng husto ng  economic managers ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang mga utang sa Chinese government.

Iginiit pa ni Panelo na hindi dehado ang Pilipinas sa China.

Sa official visit ni Mahathir sa bansa noong nakaraang linggo, pinaghihinay hinay nito ang Pilipinas sa pangungutang sa China at tiyakin na kayang bayaran ng gobyerno anuman ang naging loan nito.

Sa kasalukuyan, dalawa ang loan agreements ng Pilipinas at China.

Ito ay ang P72.49 Million na Chico River Irrigation project at ang P18.724 Billion pesos na New Centennial Water Source-Kaliwa Dam Project.

“Of course, we will take his advice and the economic managers are evaluating all kinds of loans we are having with the Chinese government”, ayon sa kalihim.
