Pinawi ng Meralco ang pangamba ng brownout matapos ilagay sa Yellow Alert ang Luzon grid kahapon.
Ayon kay Meralco utility economics head Larry Fernandez, hindi pa ibig sabihin magkakaroon ng brownout kapag inilagay ang grid sa Yellow Alert.
Warning anya ito na mayroong hindi sapat na reserba.
Bumagsak ang reserbang kuryente sa Luzon Grid nang mas mababa sa minimum level dahilan para ilagay ito sa Yellow Alert.
Ang available capacity lamang araw ng Martes ay 10,115 megawatts (MW) pero umabot ang demand sa 9,491 MW.
Ang mga planta na nag-forced outage ay ang:
- South Luzon Thermal Energy Corp. (SLTEC 1), 150MW
- Malaya 1, 150MW; Sual 2, 647MW
- Asia Pacific Energy Corp. (Apec), 10MW
- Calaca 2, 300MW
- South Luzon Power Generation Corp. (SLPG 2), 150MW
- SLTEC 2, 50MW
- SLPG 4, 25MW
- Pagbilao 3, 420MW
- at San Miguel Consolidated Power Corp. (SMCPC 1), 150MW
Samantala, sakaling kapusin ang suplay ng kuryente magkakaroon ng interruptible load program kung saan gagamit muna ng sariling generators ang mga mall at malalaking establisyimento at kakalas muna sa Meralco.
Ito ang kauna-unahang yellow alert para sa Luzon grid sa taong ito ayon sa NGCP.
Nauna nang tiniyak ng Department of Energy na mayroong sapat na suplay ng kuryente kahit pa tumataas ang demand dahil sa epekto ng El Niño.
