5 milyong Pinoy walang birth certificate ayon sa PSA

Umaabot sa limang milyong Filipino ang hindi pa rin nakarehistro sa Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

Ayon kay PSA Assistant National Statistician Ronaldo Taghap, halos 40 percent ng mga hindi rehistradong Filipino ay mga bata hanggang sa edad na 14 anyos.

May mga dahilan anya kung bakit maraming Filipino pa rin ang walang birth certificate.

Ani Taghap, posibleng hindi ito binibigyan ng halaga ng iilan dahil sa kultura.

Pangalawa, pultikal na dahilan o posibleng marami pa anyang bayan na mahina pa at hindi pa stable ang registering officers.

At ikatlo, maraming lugar ang masyadong malayo at walang pera ang mga tao.

Ayon sa Child Rights Network, pinakamalaki ang bilang ng walang birth certificate sa mga Muslim communities at indigenous groups.

Nanawagan naman si Taghap sa local government units (LGUs) na magpatupad ng mobile registration sa mga liblib na lugar.
