Grade 7 pupils nagbigay ng malaking donasyon sa Pasig Rehab project
Pinapurihan ni Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission (PRRC) Executive Director Jose Antonio E. Goitia ang isang grupo ng mga Grade 7 students dahil sa pagbibigay ng kanilang donasyon sa rehabilitasyon ng Pasig River na nagkakahalaga ng P50,000.
Ang grupo na tinawag na “The Smash Five Bros” ay binubuo nina, Luis Teodoro P. Camacho, Luis Alonzo P. Guevarra, Chollo I. Javier, Enzo de Leon at Miguel Legazpi na nagmula sa Multiple Intelligence International School sa Katipunan Ave., Quezon City.
“We learned that Pasig River used to be a very beautiful river so we just want to help in the [rehabilitation] process,” ayon sa mag-aaral na si Camacho.
Nabuo ang kanilang donasyon mula sa pagho-host ng Smash Bros. video game tournament na “Smash that Trash”, at sa pamamagitan ng pagbebenta ng mga pagkain at corporate sponsors.
Ayon kay Goitia, “if these students, at their young age, are already advocating that we must dispose our garbage properly, then adults should know better not to litter. It’s that simple.”
Sinabi naman ni Information Officer III Alyssa Chrizelle N. Miclat na noong nakalipas na taon ay nag-donate na rin ang nasabing grupo ng mga kabataan at ito ay ginamit sa kanilang week-long emergency cleanup operations sa Estero de Magdalena, na isa sa mga tributary ng Pasig River.
Bukod sa certificates of recognition, inialay rin ng PRRC sa grupo ang Pasig River’s Inaugural Asia River Prize, na siyang pinakamataas na international award para sa river restoration sa Asia-Pacific region.
