Tawag sa ranggo ng mga pulis pinalitan na

Nilagdaan na ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang Philippine National Police (PNP) rank classification law.

Inamyendahan ng nasabing batas ang Section 28 ng Republic Act 6975 o mas kilala bilang Department of the Interior and Local Government Act of 1990.

Ayon kay Executive Sec. Salvador Medialdea, sa ilalim ng bagong batas, babaguhin na ang pangalan ng ranggo ng mga pulis.

Ang dating Police Director General ay tatawagin ng Police General; ang Deputy Director General ay magiging Police Lieutenant General; ang Police Director ay Police Major General; habang ang Chief Superintendent ay tatawaging Police Brigadier General; ang Senior Superintendent ay magiging Police Colonel; ang Superintendent ay Police Lieutenant Colonel.

Ang kasalukuyang Chief Inspector ay tatawagin ng Police Major; ang Senior Inspector ay Police Captain; habang ang Inspector ay magiging Police Lieutenant na.

Samantala, ang SPO4 ay magiging Police Executive Master Sergeant; ang SPO3 naman ay magiging Police Chief Master Sergeant; ang SPO2 ay Police Senior Master Sergeant; habang ang SPO1 ay tatawagin ng Police Master Sergeant.

Ang kasalukuyang PO3 naman ay magiging Police Staff Sergeant; ang PO2 ay Police Corporal; at ang PO1 ngayon ay magiging Patrolman/Patrolwoman.

Nauna nang sinabi ng pangulo na gusto niyang palitan ang tawag sa mga ranggo ng mga pulis dahil ito raw ay nakalilito.
