Pinay scientist hinirang bilang opisyal ng International Atomic Energy Agency sa Austria
Isang Filipina scientist ang hinirang bilang isa sa mga direktor ng International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) sa Austria.
Ayon sa Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), nagsimula na sa kaniyang pwesto si Austria-based Dr. Jane Gerardo-Abaya bilang direktor ng Department of Technical Cooperation Asia and the Pacific Division ng IAEA.
Nag-courtesy call si Abaya sa Philippine Permanent Mission sa Vienna kung saan siya binati ni Philippine Ambassador to Austria Maria Cleofe Natividad.
Tiniyak ni Natividad kay Abaya ang suporta ng Permanent Mission sa pagganap niya sa kaniyang tungkulin bilang Division Director ng IAEA.
Ayon kay Natividad ang pagkakahirang kay Abaya sa pwesto ay “remarkable achievement” para sa Pilipinas.
Si Abaya ay recipient ng Balik Scientist Award ng Department of Science and Technology (DOST) noong 2008.
