DOJ, kontra na tanggalan ng scholarship ang militanteng estudyante

Hindi pabor ang Department of Justice (DOJ) sa panukala ng National Youth Commission (NYC) na tanggalan ng scholarship ang mga estudyante sa mga state universities at colleges (SUCs) na sumasama sa protesta laban sa gobyerno.

Ayon kay Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra, ang nais ng NYC ay paglabag sa freedom of speech at expression ng militanteng estudyante.

Paliwanag ng kalihim, dapat na ipagmalaki pa ng SUC ang estudyante na sumasama sa rally dahil alam nito ang mga pangyayari at isyu sa bansa.

“With all due respect, such a proposal, if adopted, would effectively restrain the youth’s constitutional right to freedom of speech and expression. our state universities and colleges, instead of taking it against militant students by dropping them from the roll, should be proud that they are producing young people who are socially aware and concerned not only about themselves but also about the nation,” ani Guevarra.

Ang pahayag ay kasunod ng panawagan ni NYC chairperson Ronald Cardema kay Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na tanggalan ng scholarship ang mga anti-government youth leaders na may kaugnayan sa rebeldeng komunista.
