LGUs inutusang tanggalin ang campaign mats sa mga government properties

Inutusan ni Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año ang mga local officials na tanggalin ang lahat ng campaign materials ng mga pulitiko na nakakabit sa mga government properties.

Sa kanyang pahayag araw ng Linggo, sinabi ni Año na sa ilalim ng Section 262 ng Omnibus Election Code, bawal ang paggamit ng mga pera, equipment at mga pasilidad na pagmamay-ari ng gobyerno sa anumang uri ng election campaign at partisan political activities.

Hindi anya siya makapapayag na magamit ng mga kandidato ang mga government properties sa kanilang kampanya.

“We will not allow candidates to use government properties as a platform for their election campaign. It’s clearly prohibited. Government buildings, properties, vehicles, and equipment are for official use only and may not be used as venues or tools for partisan political activity,” ani Año.

Ayon sa kalihim, ang mga local government officials na hindi susunod sa kanyang direktiba ay isusumbong sa Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Samantala, hinikayat ni DILG spokesperson Assistant Secretary Jonathan Malaya ang publiko na iparating sa kagawaran o hindi kaya sa Comelec ang local governments na hindi susunod sa kautusan.
