Matapos magpalipas ng gabi sa Headquarters ng National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), nakapag-piyansa na si Rappler CEO at executive editor Maria Ressa ng P100,000 matapos arestuhin sa kasong cyber libel.
Dumating si Ressa sa Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 46 bandang alas onse ng umaga.
Kasama ng pinuno ng news website ang managing editor nito na si Glenda Gloria at kaniyang abogado.
Inaresto si Ressa ng mga tauhan ng NBI makaraang inilabas na warrant of arrest ng korte ukol sa kaso.
Nag-ugat ang kaso mula sa reklamo ng negosyanteng si Wilfredo Keng hinggil sa isang news article ng Rappler noong 2012 at sinasabing nagkaroon ng update noong 2014.
Kasama sa kasong cyber libel ang dating Rappler reporter na si Reynaldo Santos Jr.
Nauna nang sinabi ni Ressa na bahagi ito ng pagkitil sa press freedom ng kasalukuyang pamahalaan.
