Palasyo kay Maria Ressa: “No one is above the law”

Iginiit ng Malakanyang na “no one is above the law” kaugnay ng pag-aresto kay Rappler CEO Maria Ressa.

Ayon kay Presidential Spokesperson  Salvador Panelo, laging iginagalang ng administrasyong Duterte ang hudikatura sa paghawak sa mga kaso na nakabinbin sa mga korte.

Hindi anya nakikialam si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa gawain ng hudikatura o mga korte sa bansa.

Depensa ni Panelo, walang kinalaman ang pagiging mamamahayag ni Ressa at kritiko ng Pangulo sa kinasasangkutan nitong kasong cyber libel.

Wala anyang kinalaman ang freedom of expression sa anyay paglabag ni Ressa sa batas.

Payo pa ng kalihim sa Rappler CEO, pagkakataon na ito para palakasin ang kanyang depensa sa korte.

“We are a country of laws and every citizen must adhere to the rule of law. No one is above the law, not even high profile self-anointed crusading journalists. Whatever the outcome is, it must be respected by everyone for such is the law. This is how the rule of law work,” pahayag ni Panelo.
