Duterte, nag-veto sa bill na magpapalakas sa PCA board
Nag-veto si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa panukalang batas na magpapalakas sa Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) board na siyang namamahala sa coco levy fund.
Sa sesyon sa Senado ay sinabi ni Senate President Vicente Sotto III na natanggap niya ang sulat mula sa Office of the President ukol sa pag-veto ng Pangulo sa bill.
Ang veto ng Pangulo ay kaugnay ng Senate Bill No. 1976 at House Bill No. 8852 o ang Act to Further Strengthen the Philippine Coconut Authority.
Layon ng panukalang batas na amyendahan ang Presidential Decree 1468 o ang Revised Coconut Industry Code of 1978 na nag-oobliga sa PCA board na magkaroon ng 6 na kinatawang magsasaka, 4 mula sa gobyerno at 1 sa nasabing industriya.
Ang bill ay magbibigay-daan sa mga magniniyog ng mas malawak na representation sa PCA board.
Habang ang mga kinatawan mula sa gobyerno ay ang Agriculture Secretary bilang chairperson; ang Finance Secretary bilang vice chairperson at ang Budget Secretary at PCA Administrator bilang mga miyembro.
Ang kinatawan naman ng industriya ay mula sa key players sa coconut industry
