Heavy equipment sinunog ng mga hinihinalang NPA sa Quezon
Sinunog ng mga hinihinalang miyembro ng New People’s Army ang heavy equipment na pag-aari ng isang road construction firm sa bayan ng Infanta sa Quezon.
Ayon kay Sr. Supt. Osmundo De Guzman, Quezon police director, tinatayang 15 rebelde ang nagtungo sa Northern Builders Corp. sa Barangay Magsaysay alas 6:30 ng umaga ng Biyernes, Feb. 8.
Sinilaban umano ng mga rebelde ang tatlong backhoe at isang bulldozer sa lugar.
Ang nasabing mga heavy equipment ay ginagamit sa road widening construction patungo sa Kaliwa Dam project.
Proyekto ito ng Metropolitan Waterworks Sewerage System o MWSS.
Wala namang nasaktan sa insidente.
Isinusulong ng MWSS ang konstruksyon ng Kaliwa dam para sa kanilang New Centennial Water Source Project na layong matugunan ang water crisis sa Metro Manila.
Pero tutol dito ang ilang environmentalist groups, religiuos groups, mga militante at ilang lokal na opisyal sa Northern Quezon.
Pinaghahanap na ngayon ng pinagsanib na pwersa ng PNP at Philippine Army ang mga nasa likod ng panununog.
