Japan nag-donate ng mga gamit sa DPWH na makatutulong sa disaster response
Nagbigay ng P54.21 million na halaga ng kagamitan ang gobyerno ng Japan sa Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) na makatutulong sa flood fighting activities at disaster response ng ahensya.
Personal na ipinagkaloob ni Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines Koji Haneda kay DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar ang walong units ng mobile drainage pump at 17 power generation set na mayroong tower lights.
Isinagawa ang handover ceremony sa DPWH-Unified Project Management Office-Flood Control Management Office sa Napindan Hydraulic Control Structure (NHCS) Compound sa Pasig City.
Ang mga ipinagkaloob na gamit ay bahagi ng Non-Project Grant Aid ng Japan sa bansa.
Nagpasalamat naman si Villar sa pamahalaan ng Japan sa pagbibigay nito ng tulong sa Pilipinas.
Ayon kay DPWH Undersecretary for UPMO Operations and Technical Services Emil K. Sadain, ang gma mobile drainage pumps ay ipamamahagi sa DPWH Regions 1, 2, 5, 6, 9, 10, 12 at sa National Capital Region (NCR).
Ang 17 units naman ng floodlights ay iapamamahagi sa lahat ng DPWH Regional Offices.
Ang truck-mount type submersible pump package na may generator ay may drainage capacity na 7.5 cubic meters per minute.
Sinabi ng DPWH na magagamit ito para matugulan ang problema sa pagbaha sa mga urban center.
