Inihihirit ng mga manufacturers ng produktong sardinas ang taas-presyo sa kanilang mga produkto.
Ito ay sa kabila ng panawagan ng Department of Trade and Industry sa ilang mga kumpanya ng mga de-latang produkto na magbaba ng presyo matapos magtaas noong Christmas Season.
Ayon kay Trade and Industry Secretary Ramon Lopez, iginigiit umano ng manufacturers ng sardinas ang taas-presyo dahil nagmahal ang halaga ng isdang tamban.
Para sa kalihim, dapat manghimasok muli ang Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) at Department of Agriculture (DA) sa problema sa input para sa mga canned sardines.
Naniniwala naman si Lopez na hindi dapat itaas at ipako lamang sa 5 percent ang taripa ng mechanically-deboned meat na ginagamit sa mga karneng de-lata para maiwasan ang taas presyo ng mga ito.
