Pag-aresto sa mga menor de edad sa Navotas, binatikos ni Bp. David
Nagpahayag ng kalungkutan si Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) Vice President at Kalookan Bishop Pablo Virgilio David sa pagdakip sa ilang mga menor de edad sa Navotas araw ng Miyerkules.
Dalawampu’t walo katao ang naaresto sa naturang operasyon ng Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) kung saan 12 ay kabataan.
Ayon kay Bishop David, hindi dapat ituring na kriminal ang mga bata kahit pa nahuli ang mga itong drug runners.
Dapat anya ay ituring ang mga bata bilang mga biktima na dapat ay iligtas mula sa mga mapansamantala at gumagamit sa kanila sa mga krimen.
Samantala, sinabi ni PDEA spokesperson Derrick Carreon na sasailalim sa rehabilitasyon ang mga batang nasagip.
Mayroon anyang ilulunsad ang ahensya sa Pebrero na programang tatawaging ‘Sagip Bata Solvent’.
Isasakatuparan ang programa sa tulong ng social welfare workers, Department of Education (DepEd) at ng Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.
