Gun ban, Comelec checkpoints simula na sa Linggo, Jan. 13

Kasabay ng pormal na pagsisimula ng election period sa bansa, sisimulan na rin ang pagpapatupad ng gun ban sa Linggo, January 13.

Ayon sa Commission on Elections (Comelec) asahan na rin ng publiko ang kabi-kabilang checkpoints para masigurong walang nagbibitbit ng armas at iba pang deadly weapons.

Sinabi ni Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez, kailangang ang checkpoint ay nasa maliwanag na lugar, may mga unipormadong pulis na nakabantay at mayroon dapat impormasyong nakapaskil gaya ng contact number at pangalan ng pulis at election officer na in-charge sa lugar.

Dagdag pa ni Jimenez gaya ng normal na checkpoint, hindi obligado ang mga motorista na buksan ang kanilang mga sasakyan.

Susundin aniya ng mga otoridad ang “plain-view doctrine” sa pagsasagawa ng checkpoint.

Ang tanging papayagan lamang na makapagbitbit ng mga armas ay ang mga napagkalooban ng gun ban exemptions ng Comelec.
