Obama, hindi sumipot sa unang APEC event

Ipinagtaka ng marami ang hindi pagdalo ni United States President Barack Obama sa welcome rites na inihanda para sa mga Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) leaders sa Philippine International Convention Center (PICC).

Ayon sa tagapagsalita ng US Embassy na si Kurt Foyer, nagkataong mayroong ibang schedule si Obama na tumama sa oras ng nasabing unang bahagi ng APEC summit.

Tanging si Obama lamang ang pinuno na hindi nakapunta sa welcome rites.

Unang dumating si Australia Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, na sinundan ni Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at ng iba pang mga leader.

Pinakahuling dumating si Chinese President Xi Jinping, at pagkatapos ay pinamunuan ni Pangulong Aquino ang sabay-sabay nilang paglalakad patungo sa ABAC plenary session.

Dahil wala ang pangulo, si US Trade Rep. Michael Forman ang dumalo sa APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) dialogue na siyang unang nakatakdang pagpupulong ng mga APEC leaders.
