Paggamit ng medical marijuana legal na sa Thailand

Inaprubahan na ngayong araw ng Pasko sa Thailand ang legalisasyon ng medical marijuana sa kabila ng mahigpit na batas na ipinaiiral sa nasabing bansa laban sa droga.

Sa ginanap na extra-parliamentary session ay naamyendahan ng mga mambabatas doon ang Narcotic Act of 1979.

“This is a New Year’s gift from the National Legislative Assembly to the government and the Thai people,” ayon kay Somchai Sawangkarn, pinuno ng drafting committee, isa ginanap na extra-parliamentary session.

Gayunman ay tiniyak ng opisyal na “for medical use only” ang dapat na maging gamit ng marijuana at mananatili pa rin ang paggamit nito ng walang kaukulang reseta mula sa mga duktor.

Mananatili pa rin ang Thailand sa mga bansa sa rehiyon na magpapataw ng death penalty laban sa mga marijuana trafficker tulad ng Singapore, Indonesia at Malaysia.

Nauna dito ay nag-lobby rin sa mga mambabatas ang ilang cannabis legalization advocacy group para payagan ang paggamit ng marijuana “for recreation purposes”.
