CHR, naaalarma na sa sunod-sunod na kaso ng pagpatay kahit sa panahon ng Pasko
Hindi naiwasan ng Commission on Human Rights o CHR na maalarma sa sunod-sunod na kaso ng patayan kahit sa panahon ng Pasko.
Pahayag ito ng CHR matapos mapatay si Ako Bicol Partylist Rep. Rodel Batocabe sa Daraga, Albay noong Sabado.
Ayon kay CHR Spokesperson Atty. Jacqueline de Guia, hindi dapat na hayaan ng gobyerno na patuloy na mamayagpag ang mga paglabag sa karapatang-pantao.
Hinihimok ng CHR ang pamahalaan na paigtingin ang vigilance dahil dumarami ang kaso ng patayan, lalo’t nalalapit na ang panahon ng eleksyon.
“It is alarming that the trend of killings continue despite the holiday season. However, regardless of season or motivation, the government must not allow such transgressions against human rights to happen. We urge the government to apply increased vigilance, especially that there are allegations linking the killing to the upcoming elections,” bahagi ng statement ng CHR.
May ginagawa na rin aniyang imbestigasyon ang CHR region 5 kaugnay sa pagpatay kay Batocabe para mapanagot sa batas ang mga kriminal.
