Sinabi ni US President Donald Trump na tuloy na ang partial government shutdown makaraang bumagsak ang negosasyon sa kanilang kongreso kaugnay sa federal budget.
Kapwa nag-adjourn na ang sesyon ng US House of Representatives at Senate kung saan ay sinabi ni Senate Majority Leader Whip John Cornyn na walang naganap na deliberasyon at botohan para sa nasabing pondo.
Hanggang sa mga huling sandali ay humahanap ng paraan ang mga negosyador ng federal government para maihabol kahit na ang bahagi ng pondo para sa ilang tanggapan ng pamahalaan.
Kinabibilangan ito ng departments of Homeland Security, Justice, Housing and Urban Development at iba pang ahensya ng gobyerno.
Sa loob ng nakalipas na 40 taon ay muling naulit ang government shutdowns nang tatlong beses sa loob lamang ng isang taon.
Gayunman bago matapos ang sesyon ay pinagtibay ng US Senate ang budget para sa sweldo ng federal employees pero hindi naman ito pinansin ng kanilang mga kongresista.
Sa kabilang sa mga ipinadalang sugo sa kongreso ng White House ay sina Vice President Mike Pence, budget director Mick Mulvaney at ang manugang ni President Donald Trump na si, Jared Kushner.
Noong Huwebes ay ipinasa ng House of Representatives ang request ni Trump na $5 billion para sa border wall pero inupuan naman ito ng mga senador.
Sa huli ay sinisi ni Trump sa pulitika ang hindi pag-apruba sa kanilang budget na umano’y naglalayong idiskaril ang kanyang mga proyekto.
Sinisi rin niya ang Democrats na nagplano ng pananabotahe sa kanilang pondo.
Ayon pa kay Trump, “The chances are probably very good” that there is a shutdown. It’s really the Democrat shutdown, because we’ve done our thing.”
Dagdag pa ng US president, “Now it’s up to the Democrats as to whether we have a shutdown tonight. I hope we don’t, but we’re totally prepared for a very long shutdown.”
