UP Regent Frederick Farolan dapat bigyan ng due process ayon sa Malacañan
Ipinauubaya na ng Palasyo ng Malacañan kay University of the Philippines Regent Frederick Spocky Farolan ang pagpapasya kung papatulan ang panawagan nina Senador Nancy Binay at Kiko Pangilinan na magbitiw sa pwesto matapos mag-post sa social media na tatlo sa mga UAAP player ng Ateneo de Manila University ang ma-injured sa game 2 sa ng Finals.
Ayon kay Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo, mahalaga na mabigyan si Farolan ng benefit of the doubt at hayaan na makapagpaliwanag.
Sinabi pa ni Panelo na kinakailangan na mabigyan ng due process si Farolan at manaig ang rule of law.
Sa ngayon, sinabi ni Panelo na kinakailangan na magkaroon ng isang grupo na mag-iimbestiga sa post ni Farolan.
Si Farolan ay itinalaga ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte bilang miyembro ng Board of Regents ng UP noong 2016.
“I think the call for resignation, we leave it to the discretion of the person subject of the call. Even then, fairness dictates that it’s the subject of the call for resignation should decide for himself whether there’s a validity to the call or not. I think we should give the person the benefit of the doubt, let him explain himself. That’s what we call due process and the rule of law,” ani Panelo.
