Malacañang dumistansya sa tax case ng Rappler at ni Ressa

Walang ginagawang panggigipit ang Malacañang kay Rappler chief executive officer at editor-in-chief Maria Ressa.

Ito ay matapos magpalabas ng arrest warrant ang Pasig Regional Trial Court Branch 265 dahil sa kasong tax evasion.

Ayon kay Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo, walang kinalaman si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa arrest warrant laban kay Ressa.

Sinabi pa ni Panelo na may nilabag na tax laws si Ressa kung kaya marapat lamang na habulin ng batas.

Hindi aniya naging ugali ng ehekutibo na pakialaman ang mga desisyon ng hudikatura.

Bukod dito, sinabi ni Panelo na mayroon pa namang presumption of innocence si Ressa at kapag napatunayan sa korte na inosente siya ay tiyak din namang ma-acquit ang opisyal ng Rappler.

Matatandaang makailang beses nang binanatan ng pangulo ang Rappler dahil sa umano’y hindi patas na pagbabalita.
