CBCP ipinagtanggol si Bishop David sa mga birada ni Pangulong Duterte
Dinepensahan ni Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines President at Davao Archbishop Romullo Valles si CBCP Vice President at Kalookan Bishop Pablo Virgilio David sa mga birada ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.
Pinaratangan ng pangulo si Bishop David na nagnanakaw ng mga donasyong prutas at pinaghihinalaang sangkot ito sa droga.
Ayon kay Valles, isa siya sa maraming nalulungkot at nababahala sa mga naging pahayag na kumukwestyon sa integridad ni Bishop David.
“Many, including myself, are saddened and disturbed by the recent statements made against Bp. Pablo Virgilio David, that allege that he committed actions that question his integrity. Bp. David has already answered clearly and equally all these allegations,” ani Valles.
Iginiit ng CBCP na isang mabuting obispo si David na walang ginawa kundi tumulong sa mga nagdarahop lalo na sa Diyosesis ng Kalookan.
Ani Valles, hindi matatawaran ang pagiging mabuting pastol ni David na walang sawang nagpapamalas ng awa at habag sa kanyang mga mamamayan.
“Very many of us bishops have come to know Bp. David as a very good bishop, a dedicated shepherd and father of the flock in the Diocese of Kalookan. He is very passionate in his ministry, bringing “mercy and compassion,” especially to the poor and suffering among his people,” dagdag ni Valles.
Hinikayat din ng CBCP ang publiko na ipanalangin si David sa Diyos na bigyan ito ng kalakasan, kahinahunan at kapayapaan ng puso sa sitwasyong hinaharap nito.
“Let us pray in a special way for Bp David that the Lord grant him more strength, as well as calmness and peace in this difficult situation,” paghimok ng arsobispo.
Si Bishop David ay hindi lamang kilala bilang opisyal ng CBCP at kritiko ng war on drugs ng administrasyon.
Kinikilala ang galing ng obispo sa mga programang ipinatutupad nito sa kanyang diyosesis lalo na para sa mga mahihirap at nalulong sa iligal na droga.
Inilunsad ni David ang isang community-based drug rehabilitation program na nagbibigay ng bagong-buhay sa mga drug users at pushers sa Caloocan, Navotas at Malabon.
Naniniwala siyang ang adiksyon sa droga ay isang sakit na kailangang gamutin.
