Duterte nakapili na ng bagong AFP Chief-of-Staff
May napili na si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na sunod na chief of staff ng Armed Forces of the Philippines.
Ayon kay Defense Sec. Delfin Lorenzana, ayaw niyang pangunahan ang pangulo pero pahiwatig nito, galing sa Philippine Army ang sunod na AFP chief of staff.
Aabot na si AFP chief of staff General Carlito Galvez sa mandatory retirement age na 56 sa December 12.
Ang mga nauna kay Galvez ay mga miyembro rin ng Army, ang pinakamalaking branch ng military service na mayroong 90,000 personnel.
Ang mga 3-star general ay automatic na kwalipikado sa top AFP post pero dahil ang pagpipilian lamang ay mga Army generals, ang posibleng contenders ay sina Army chief Lt. Gen. Macairog Alberto, Eastern Mindanao Command chief Lt. Gen. Benjamin Madrigal at Western Mindanao Command chief Lt. Gen. Arnel Dela Vega.
