Singapore pormal nang ipinasa ang ASEAN Chairmanship sa Thailand
Matapos ang halos isang dekada ay pormal nang ipinasa ng Singapore ang ASEAN Chairmanship sa Thailand.
Taong 2009 nang hawakan ng Thailand ang chairmanship na ipinasa rin sa kanila ng Singapore noon.
Sa seremonyal na pagpapasa ng ‘gavel’ o malyete, pinasalamatan at binati ni Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha si Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong sa mahusay nitong pamumuno sa ASEAN community.
Nangako si Prayut na ipagpapatuloy ng Thailand ang mga magandang nagawa ng Singapore para sa regional bloc.
Ang tema ng chairmanship ng Thailand ay ‘Advancing Partnership for Sustainability’.
Ayon kay Prayut, ang prayoridad ng Thailand bilang bagong chairman ng ASEAN ay pagpapalakas sa ugnayan sa imprastraktura, economic growth at seguridad,
Ang Thailand ay isa sa mga founding members ng ASEAN kabilang ang Indonesia. Malaysia, Singapore at Pilipinas.
