AFP posibleng irekomenda ang pagpapalawig ng martial law sa Mindanao
Ikinukunsidera ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) ang posibilidad na irekumenda kay Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang muling pagpapalawig ng umiiral na batas militar sa Mindanao.
Ayon kay AFP Chief of Staff Carlito Galvez, Jr. maraming mga residente ang pabor sa extention ng martial law dahil sa positibong epekto nito laban sa kriminalidad at terorismo.
Ngunit ani Galvez, hihintayin pa muna nila ang comprehensive report bago sila maglabas ng rekomendasyon.
Hihintayin din aniya nila ang rekomendasyon ng Regional Peace and Order Councils tungkol sa pagpapalawig ng martial law.
Kasalukuyang nasa Mindanao si Galvez upang magsagawa ng command conference sa Eastern at Western Mindanao Command upang malaman ang resulta ng umiiral na batas militar sa lugar na sakop nito.
Samantala, nauna namang sinabi ni National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperson, Jr. na ang extension ng martial law ay last resort lamang; ngunit kapwa nagpahayag ng pagsuporta sa posibilidad ng extension ang Philippine National Police (PNP) at Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
