Kasabay ng paggunita sa World Anti-Counterfeiting Day, libo-libong mga peke at piniratang mga produkto ang winasak sa headquarters ng Philippine National Police (PNP) sa Camp Crame.

Ang “ceremonial destruction” ng mga counterfeit goods ay pinangunahan nina PNP-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) Director Benjamin Magalong, at Atty. Allan Gepty, OIC-Director ng Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL).

May kinatawan din ang mga ahensiya ng gobyerno na may mga Anti-Counterfeit Operations katulad ng Optical Media Board (OMB) sa pangunguna ni Chairman Ronnie Ricketts, mga opisyal mula sa Bureau of Customs (BOC), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), Food and drugs Administration (FDA), National Book Development Board (NBDB), Department of Justice (DOJ), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) at Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

Ang mga pinirata at pekeng mga produkto ay inilatag sa harap ng PNP grandstand. Kabilang sa mga winasak ang mga pirated DVDs, CDs, pekeng branded shades, electrical items, pekeng branded bags, school bags, school supplies, beauty products gaya ng lipstick, mga gamot kabilang ang gamot sa sakit ng tiyan, sakit ng ulo at hika at mga athletic shoes.

Ang mga naturang produkto winasak sa pamamagitan ng pagsagasa ng dalawang heavy equipment ng Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) at ng Armored Personnel Carrier ng PNP Special Action Force (SAF)./ Jan Escosio
