Joint oil exploration sa West Phil. Sea malabo ayon sa DOE
Walang gas exploration deal na lalagdaan ang Pilipinas at China sa pinag-aagawang lugar sa South China Sea sa pagbisita ni Chinese President Xi Jinping sa bansa ngayong buwan ng Nobyembre.
Ayon kay Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi, hinihintay na lamang ng DOE na malagdaan ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang Service Contract 57 para maalis na ang pagbabawal sa oil exploration sa West Philippine Sea.
Taong 2012 nang magpatupad noon si dating Pangulong Benigno Aquino III ng moratorium o ban sa lahat ng uri ng exploration at drilling work sa West Philippine Sea.
Pero ayon kay Cusi, ipinauubaya na ng DOE sa Department of Foreign Affairs ang lifting ng ban dahil sa sa diplomatic issue.
Bagaman hindi pa nalalagdaan ni Pangulong Duterte ang Service Contract 57, sinisimulan na rin ng DOE ang hakbang para sa oil exploration sa labing-apat na pre- determined areas na nasa exclusive territory ng Pilipinas.
Kinabibilangan ito ng off-shores at on-shores exploration mula Mindanao hanggang Northern Luzon.
