Guevarra nanindigan na walang convicted drug lord na ginamit para maging state witness vs. De Lima
Iginiit ni Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra na walang convicted person ang tinanggap para maging state witness laban kay Sen. Leila De Lima.
Ito ay matapos sampahan ni De Lima ang kalihim at si dating Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre ng mga kasong kriminal at administratibo dahil sa umano’y iligal na pagtanggap sa mga kriminal bilang mga state witness na anya;y paglabag sa Section 10 ng Republic Act (R.A) 6981 o Witness Protection, Security and Benefict Act.
Sa mensahe ni Guevarra sa INQUIRER.net, sinabi nitong ang isang ‘state witness’ ay isa ring akusado at pinayagan ng korte na tumestigo matapos makahapaghain ng mosyon ang gobyerno.
“It is, of course, understood that a potential state witness is himself a co-accused. If he is not one of the accused, he is just an ordinary witness,” ani Guevarra.
Hindi naman nagbigay ng komento si Aguirre sa tungkol sa reklamo ni De Lima dahil hindi pa nito nababasa ang kaso.
