Aug. 30 ipinadedeklarang Press Freedom Day

Nais nina Senators Bam Aquino at Sherwin Gatchalian na ideklarang Press Freedom Day sa bansa ang petsang August 30.

Inihain ng dalawang senador ang panukala para maideklara ang pagkakaroon ng “National Responsible Press Freedom Day” sa bansa na anila ay itinatakda ng Saligang Batas.

Sa statement ni Senator Gatchalian, sa ilalim ng section 4, article 3 ng Bill of Rights, hindi lamang ang karapatang magsalita at sumulat ang ginagarantyahan kundi maging ang karapatan na maprotektahan laban sa banta, intimidation at karahasan.

Samantala sinabi naman ni Aquino na kung maidedeklara ang Press Freedom Day magsisilbi itong paalala sa mga panahong nagkaron ng pagsikil sa pamamahayag.
