Kani-kaniyang “lobby” na para sa susunod na PNP Chief

Tumitindi ang gapangan para sa magiging susunod na pinuno ng Philippine National Police (PNP).

Ito ay matapos makabilang si House Speaker Sonny Belmonte Jr., sa mga naglo-lobby para ang kaniyang manok ang mapiling uupong PNP Chief.

Sumulat kay Pangulong Aquino si Belmonte para iendorso si Chief Supt. Raul D. Petrasanta na ngayon ay PNP Region 3 Director.

Sa text message sa Inquirer, inamin ni Belmonte na inindorso niya si Petrasanta kay Pangulong Aquino.

“I endorsed him based on his performance during my [term as mayor of] Quezon City. His advantage is being from a later class, he will bring stability to the leadership; it will not be an in-and-out situation,” ayon kay Belmonte.

Si National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Chief Deputy Director General Marcelo Garbo naman ang minamanok ni Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Sec. Mar Roxas.

Maliban kina Petrasanta at Garbo, matunog din ang pangalan ni PNP-CIDG Director Benjamin Magalong na sinasabing nilo-lobby naman ni dating Senator Panfilo Lacson.

Ang iba pang kandidato sa pagka-PNP chief ay sina Director Ricardo Marquez at Director Juanito Vano. Si Vano ay si resigned PNP Chief Alan Purisima naman ang nagtutulak.

Magugunitang kabilang si Petrasanta sa pinatawan ng suspensyon ng Office of the Ombudsman kasama si Purisima ay 17 iba pang opisyal ng PNP kaugnay sa umano ay pagbebenta ng mahigit isang libong AK-47 rifles sa New People’s Army (NPA).

Natapos ang suspension kay Petrasanta noong June 4 at nakabalik na ito sa serbsiyo./ Dona Dominguez-Cargullo
