Isyu ng iregularidad sa pagpasok sa bansa ng ikatlong telco didiniggin ng Senado

Magsasagawa ng “explanatory” hearing ang Senate Committee on Public Services bukas, araw ng Lunes hinggil sa estado ng paghahanap ng third major telecommunications company.

Ang pagdinig ay matapos idemanda ng isang kumpanya ang National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) dahil sa di umano’y pinagkaperahan ang selection process.

Ayon kay Senate Public Services Chairperson Senador Grace Poe, nais malaman ng Senado ang estado ng pipiliing ikatlong telco sa pag-asang mai-aaward na ang kontrata sa susunod na buwan.

Paliwanag ng mambabatas, malaking papel ang gagampanan ng kanyang komite hinggil sa pagkakaloob ng congressional franchise ng aplikante.

Kabilang sa mga resource persons na inimbitahan sa pagdinig ay sina NTC Acting Secretary Eliseo Rio, Jr., NTC chair Gamaliel Cordoba, Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) chair Emilio Aquino, Competition Commission chair Arsenio Balisacan, Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Ernesto Pernia, at Science and Technology Secretary Fortunato Dela Peña.
