Pagsumite ng aplikasyon para sa CJ post pinalawig ng JBC
Mula sa deadline na Oct. 15, pinalawig ng Judicial and Bar Council sa October 26 ang deadline sa pagsusumite ng aplikasyon para sa chief justice.
Kasunod ito ng pagretiro noong Oct. 10 ni Supreme Court Chief Justice Teresita Leonardo-De Castro.
Samantala, tinanggihan ni Associate Justice Mariano C. Del Castillo ang automatic nomination sa kaniya bilang isa sa limang most senior associate justice.
Idinahilan ni Del Castillo na nakatakda na rin kasi siyang magretiro sa July 29 sa susunod na taon.
Bunga nito ang apat na lamang na senior associate Justices ang automatically nominated kabilang sina Senior Associate Justices Antonio T. Carpio, Justice Diosdado M. Peralta, Justice Lucas Bersamin, at Justice Estela Perlas-Bernabe.
Sina Justices Peralta at Bersamin ay sumailalim na sa public interview ng JBC.
Samantala, mababakante na rin ang isa pang associate justice post sa Korte Suprema bunga ng nakatakdang pagreretiro sa January 5 ni Justice Noel Tijam.
