Dahil sa lumalalang karamdaman, Justice Martin Villarama, magreretiro ng maaga sa Korte Suprema

VillaramaHiniling ni Supreme Court Associate Justice Martin Villarama sa Korte Suprema na payagan siyang magretiro ng maaga dahil sa lumalalang kondisyon ng kaniyang kalusugan.

Sa kaniyang liham kay Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno, sinabi ni Villarama na nais na niyang magretiro epektibo sa Jan. 16, 2016. “The undersigned most earnestly requests your good office for the approval by the Supreme Court en banc of his application for Optional Retirement,” ayon kay Villarama.

Binanggit ni Villarama sa kaniyang liham bilang dahilan sa maagang pagreretiro ang kaniyang lumalalang karamdaman.

Si Villarama ay sumailalim sa double-knee metal implantation noong taong 2013 at sa cataract operation noong 2014.

Ilang taon na umanong nakararanas ng hirap sa paghinga, hypertension at sintomas ng prostate illness ang mahistrado.

Sa April 14, 2016 pa tutuntong sa edad na 70 si Villarama na mandatory retirement age para sa mga miyembro ng hudikatura.

Nagsimula ang karera ni Villara sa hudikatura noong 1970 bilang Technical Assistant sa Supreme Court.
Naging Regional Trial Court Judge noong 1986, Court of Appeals Associate Justice noong 1998 at Mahistrado ng Supreme Court Associate Justice simula taong 2009.
