Ban sa ilang quarrying operations sa bansa, inalis ng DENR

Tinanggal ni Environment and Natural Resources Secretary Roy Cimatu ang ban sa operasyon ng ilang quarrying companies.

Desisyon ito ng DENR kasunod ng review ng Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) sa sitwasyon ng quarrying sa bansa.

Tinanggal na ang suspension order sa 6 na rehiyon. Ito ang Region I (Ilocos), Region II (Cagayan), Region IV-A (Calabarzon), Region V (Bicol), Region X (Northern Mindanao) at Region XI (Davao).

Ang mga kumpanya sa nasabing mga rehiyon na pwede nang magpatuloy ng kanilang mining at quarrying operations ay ang sumusunod:
– Region I—Holcim Mining and Development Corp., Northern Cement Corp., Heirs of Elias E. Olegano, and nine firms with Industrial Sand and Gravel Permits (ISAG)
– Region III—Holcim Mining and Development Corp., Republic Cement, Eagle Cement, and six firms with ISAG
– Region IVA—Republic Cement and Building Materials Inc. and Lafarge Holcim aggregates Corp.
– Region V—Orophil Stonecraft Corp.
– Region X—Holcim Resources and Development Corp.
– Region XI—Holcim Mining and Development Corp.

Gayunman, nananati namang suspendido ang quarrying operations sa lugar kung saan naganap ang landslide sa Naga City, Cebu.
