Proteksyon sa mga volunteer, inihirit ni De Lima
Nais ni Senadora Leila de Lima na mabigyan ng proteksyon ang mga licensed o accredited volunteers na nagbibigay-serbisyo sa tuwing may kalamidad o emergency situations.
Sa inihain niyang Senate Bill 2013 o ang Emergency Volunteer Protection Act of 2018, layon nitong magkaroon ng mekanismo para bigyan ng proteksyon ang mga volunteer mula sa multa, kaso at pagkakakulong sa pagtupad sa kanilang volunteer works.
Nais din ng senadora na magkaroon ng mandatory disability, medical at death insurance sa mga kuwalipikadong volunteers.
Ayon kay De Lima, bagama’t may mga batas na ukol sa volunteerism sa bansa, wala sa mga ito ang nagsisilbing proteksyon sa mga volunteer sa mga asunto sa tuwing sila ay kumikilos sa mga emergency situations.
Sasakupin ng panukala ang volunteers na accredited, certified at authorized ng mga ahensiya ng gobyerno at maging ang mga nakarehistro o miyembro ng Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency.
Nais ni De Lima na ang certified volunteers ay mabigyan ng P350,000 disability benefits at P300,000 death benefits.
