Konsulada ng Pilipinas Houston bubuksan ngayong araw
Magbubukas na ngayong araw ang Philippine Consulate General sa Houston, dalawampu’t limang taon matapos itong isara.
Ayon sa Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) sa pagbubukas ng konsulada, mas mapapalapit sa sebisyo ang Filipino Community sa south central ng Estados Unidos.
Ang konsulada ay isinara noong September 1993, at sa pagbubukas nito ngayong araw tinatayang maseserbisyuhan nito ang 179,000 na mga Filipino sa Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma at Texas.
Kabilang sa mga serbisyo na ibibigay ng konsulada ay ang civil registry services gaya ng Reports of Birth, Marriage at Death, notarial services, affidavits certification, issuance ng travel documents at fingerprinting para sa National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) clearances.
Sa mga susunod na araw naman ay magiging available na rin sa konsulada ang Passport processing, visas, authentication services at dual citizenship services.
Magbibigay din ito ng tulong kung mayroong Pinoy na magkakaproblema.
Ang konsulada ay matatagpuan sa 9990 Richmond Avenue, Suite 270N, Houston, Texas, at sa pagtatapos ng taon ay lilipat sa Suite 100N sa parehong gusali.
