Eskwelahan na nagbigay ng honorary degree kay Daniel Matsunaga, walang permit ayon sa CHED

Wala umanong permit to operate ang eskwelahan na nagbigay ng honorary degrees kay Daniel Matsunaga.

Paglilinaw ito ng Commission on Higher Education o CHED matapos ang paggagawad ng Brethren Evangelical School of Theology (BEST) sa Gapan, Nueva Ecija kay Matsunaga ng Ph.D. in Humanities, major in Social Work.

Ang pagbibigay sa kaniya ng award ay ipinost ni Daniel sa kaniyang Instagram Account.

Sa pahayag, sinabi ni CHED Officer-in-Charge and spokesperson Prospero de Vera III na batay sa kanilang record, ang BEST ay hindi nag-apply ng authority to operate kaya hindi ito kinikilala bilang higher education institution.

Ibig sabihin, wala din itong kapangyarihan na mag-grant ng degree gaya ng ipinagkaloob kay Matsunaga.

Sinabi ng CHED na ang ginawa ng BEST na pagbibigay ng honorary degree ay paglabag sa policies at guidelines sa ilalim ng Memorandum Order (CMO) No. 19, series of 2014 ng CHED.

Sa nasabing kautusan, ang honorary doctorate degrees ay pwede lang ibigay ng HEIs na 25 taon na o higit pa na nag-ooperate.

Dahil dito sinabi ng CHED na hindi nila kikilalanin ang honorary doctorate degree na ibinigay ng BEST kay Matsunaga.

Papatawan din ng parusa ang BEST sa pag-aalok nito ng degree programs kahit walang permit.
