16 nag-aagawan sa pagka-Associate Justice ng SC
Umabot sa labing-anim ang aplikante para sa posisyong Associate Justice ng Korte Suprema na nabakante matapos italaga si Samuel R. Martires bilang Ombudsman.
Ang mga nais makuha ang posisyon ay sina SC Court Administrator Jose Midas P. Marquez, Centro Escolar University (CEU) law school Associate Dean Rita Linda Ventura Jimeno, Court of Appeals (CA) Associate Justices Oscar Badelles, Manuel Barrios, Apolinario Bruselas Jr., Rosmari Carandang, Stephen Cruz, Japar Dimaampao, Amy Lazaro-Javier, Ramon Garcia, Edgardo Delos Santos, Ramon Paul Hernando, and Mario Lopez; Sandiganbayan Associate Justice Alexander Quiroz; at Tagum City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Judge Virginia Tejano-Ang.
Ayon kay Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra na ex-officio vice chair ng Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) isang abogado pa ang nag-apply ngunit hindi pa pwedeng ianunsyo ang kanyang pangalan dahil sa nakabinbing ebalwasyon pa ng mga dokumentong isinumite nito.
Nakatakda pang i-schedule ng JBC ang public interview ng mga aplikante para sa pagka-AJ.
