Itutuloy pa rin ang House committee on Justice ang impeachment proceedings laban kay Chief Justice Teresita de Castro at sa anim pang mahistrado ng Korte Suprema.
Ito ay kahit na magreretiro na sa Oktober 8 si de Castro na sasapit ng kanyang mandatory retirement age na 70 taong gulang.
Bukod kay de Castro, nahaharap din sa impeachment complaint ang anim na iba na sina Justices Diosdado Peralta, Lucas Bersamin, Andres Reyes, Francis Jardeleza, Noel Tijam at Alexander Gesmundo. Ang pitong nabanggit na opisyal ang bumoto noon sa impeachment complaint laban kay dating Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.
Sa panayam ng Radyo Inquirer, sinabi ni Oriental Mindoro Representative Salvador “Doy” Leachon, chairman ng komite, na bagama’t magiging moot and academic na ang impeachment laban kay de Castro, may anim pang mahistrado ang nahaharap sa kaparehong reklamo.
Sinabi pa ni Leachon na mahalagang mabusisi kung nagkaroon ng culpable violation ng konstitusyon at betrayal of public trust dahil sa naging papel ng mga ito sa pagpapatalsik kay Sereno.
