Bubuksan na ng National Food Authority (NFA) ang mga bigasang-bayan sa Zamboanga City.
Ayon kay Presidential spokesman Harry Roque, ito ay para maalalayan ang mga residente ng Zamboanga City sa patuloy na pagtaas ng presyo ng NFA rice na umabot na sa P70 kada kilo.
Ayon kay Roque, target ng pamahalaan na dagdagan ang suplay ng NFA rice sa lalawigan para maibaba ang presyo ng bigas.
“We have announced—NFA has announced that there will be Bigasang Bayan to be opened in Zamboanga and that of course intended to increase the supply of rice in Zamboanga and to lower the price of rice there. So the solution really is to bring in more supply into Zamboanga City,” pahayag ni Roque.
Matatandaang nagdeklara na ng state of calamity ang Zamboanga City dahil sa kakapusan ng suplay ng NFA rice sa lugar.
