Suportado ni Pangulong Benigno Aquino III ang paglalayag ng warship ng Estados Unidos sa pinag-aagawang West Philippines Sea.

Ang reaksyon ni Pangulong Aquino ay bunga ng paglalayag o ‘sail-by’ ng guided missle destroyer na USS Lassen sa West Philippines Sea.

Sa panayam kay Pangulong Aquino ng Foreign Correspondents Association of the Philippines, sinabi nito na welcome sa kanya ang ‘balance of power’ sa saan man sa mundo.

Hindi rin naniniwala ang pangulo na lalo nitong paiinitin ang tensyon sa West Philippines Sea.

Paliwanag ni Pangulong Aquino, nasa loob ng ‘international rules at norms’ ang gagawin ng US hangga’t wala itong marahas na intensyon ay wala siyang nakikitang problema dito.

Ito rin aniya ay isang paraan upang magkaroon ng ‘balance of power’ sa naturang karagatan.

Kahapon, inihayag ng isang US defense official na nakarating na sa karagatang malapit sa isang artificial island na itinaguyod ng China sa Spratly islands ang isang US warship.

Pumasok sa loob ng 12 nautical mile ng isang artificial island ang USS Lassen malapit sa Subi reef.
