Mabilis na sumiklab ang forest fire sa bulubundukin lugar sa West Athens.
Dahil dito ay napilitang magsilikas ang mga residente matapos kumalat ang usok mula sa sunog.
Ayon sa fire department nasa 80 mga bumbero ang rumesponde malapit sa seaside settlement ng Kineta, na nasa 50 kilometers mula sa Athens.
Katuwang din nito ang nasa pitong water-dropping planes at four helicopters sa pag-apula sa forest fire.
Magpapadala pa ang mga otoridad ng karagdagang 17 firefighting vehicles mula sa ibang bahagi ng Greece para makatulong sa sistwasyon.
Mas lalong nagpapahirap sa mga ito ang malakas na hangin sa pagpatay ng apoy.
