DENR, inobliga ang mga establisiyemento sa Boracay na magkaroon ng sariling sewage treatment plant
Inoobliga ng Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) ang mga establisyimento sa Boracay na magkaroon ng sariling sewage treatment plant o poso negro bilang bahagi ng rehabilitasyon ng isla.
Ayon kay Environment Sec. Roy Cimatu, ang mga establishment sa tabi ng dagat ay dapat magkaroon ng sariling treatment plant.
Sa ilalim ng draft department circular, lahat ng resorts at katulad ng establisyimento na mayroong 50 kwarto o higit pa na nasa dalampasigan ng Boracay, mula Stations 1 hanggang 3, ay dapat na may sariling sewage treatment plant.
Ang mga mga istablisyimento naman na may 49 kwarto pababa ay pwedeng mamili kung sarili o clustered treatment plant.
Sinabi ng DENR na ang hindi susunod ay bibigyan ng notice of violation o cease and desist order.
Una nang napuna ng ahensya na ang mahigit 200 establishments sa isla ay hindi konektado sa Tourism Infrastracture and Enterprise Zone Authority at sa Ayala-controlles Boracay Island Water Company.
